NI Accident Management Takes the Leap for the Childrenβs Heartbeat Trust in Northern Ireland
At NI Accident Management, weβre proud to be more than just a business supporting clients after collisions. As a local NI business we see ourselves as part of the wider community, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is one way we demonstrate that commitment. This year, we decided to do something a little differentβsomething bold, exhilarating, and even a little daring. Our Director, Mark Johnston, is an avid skydiver and takes to the skies regularly with Skydive Ireland. He decided to do a NI Accident Management team skydive and raise funds for a cause that touches the lives of many families across Northern Ireland: The Childrenβs Heartbeat Trust.
Why We are choosing The Childrenβs Heartbeat Trust
Every year, over 200 babies in Northern Ireland are born with congenital heart disease (CHD). For these children and their families, life can become a whirlwind of hospital visits, treatments, and difficult adjustments. The Childrenβs Heartbeat Trust in Northern Ireland exists to provide both practical and emotional support throughout this journey.
The charity does not receive government funding and relies entirely on voluntary donations to continue its vital work. Its services include family support groups, financial assistance, advocacy, awareness-raising, and resources designed to help children and young people live full and supported lives despite the challenges of CHD.
When Mark Johnston proposed the skydive, it was clear this was an opportunity to combine adrenaline with advocacyβturning a personal challenge into a collective effort for good.
Taking the Leap
The idea of leaping from an aircraft at 15,000 feet is daunting for most, but Mark was determined to rise to the challenge. A member of Skydive Ireland, he used his passion for skydiving as a way to inspire donations and demonstrate the lengths to which our team will go on to make a difference.
We set an initial fundraising target of Β£500. Within days of announcing the campaign on our LinkedIn and social media platforms, we were thrilled to have raised over Β£500. Colleagues, clients, and community members came forward with donations, showing that even a few pounds here and there could collectively make a huge difference.
The skydive was not only a spectacle but also a symbolic leap of faithβdemonstrating NI Accident Managementβs belief that businesses in Northern Ireland can and should play a part in addressing community needs.
Who the Childrenβs Heartbeat Trust Are
The Childrenβs Heartbeat Trust is one of Northern Irelandβs most respected charities, dedicated to supporting children and young people living with congenital heart disease and their families.
Support for Families: The charity provides practical help, from financial grants to assist with hospital travel costs, to organising family support groups that reduce isolation and build networks of resilience.
Emotional Care: Counselling and peer-to-peer connections offer a lifeline to parents navigating difficult diagnoses.
Advocacy and Awareness: The Trust works to ensure that children with CHD are visible in health policy discussions, while also raising awareness in schools and communities about the realities of the condition.
Youth Engagement: With bespoke programmes for young people, the charity helps children with CHD develop confidence, independence, and a strong sense of identity despite ongoing health challenges.
With no statutory funding, the Trust relies entirely on community efforts like ours. By choosing this charity, NI Accident Management wanted to spotlight both the importance of their work and the very real need for public support to sustain it.
NI Accident Management: CSR and Social Value in Action across Northern Ireland
For us, Corporate Social Responsibility is not about token gesturesβitβs about embedding community impact into the DNA of our company. By turning something as exhilarating as a skydive into a fundraising platform, we demonstrated that accident management businesses in Northern Ireland can leverage their profile and networks to create genuine social value.
The skydive also reflects our broader CSR philosophy: to use our resources, people, and connections to support causes that matter. Just as we help clients navigate stressful moments after a collision, we believe itβs important to stand with families navigating the difficult realities of congenital heart disease.
Community Engagement and Support
One of the highlights of this campaign was seeing how our local community rallied around the effort. Clients, partners, and friends shared our posts, spread the word, and contributed financially. The visibility on platforms like LinkedIn helped us go beyond a fundraising pageβit created a conversation around childrenβs health, family support, and the role of businesses in driving social change.
We also recognised that every donationβno matter how smallβwas a reminder of the collective spirit that defines Northern Ireland. People gave what they could, knowing that together, their contributions added up to something meaningful.
Accident Management and Northern Ireland: A Wider Commitment
This initiative is just one example of how weβre working to make CSR part of our culture. As NI Accident Management continues to grow, we want our success to ripple outwards into the community. That means investing in local causes, building partnerships with trusted charities, and showing leadership in addressing social issues.
Through NI Accident Management supporting organisations like the Childrenβs Heartbeat Trust, weβre helping ensure that Northern Ireland remains a place where families receive the care, compassion, and solidarity they deserve. Accident management in Northern Ireland may be our business, but social value is our responsibility.
Looking Ahead
With the skydive just completed and having raised Β£4,500, weβre already looking towards future initiatives. Our commitment doesnβt end here. Whether itβs through fundraising campaigns, practical donations, or awareness-raising, weβll continue to explore creative ways to support local charities and contribute to the wellbeing of our communities.
And while this challenge may have involved freefall, it has given us a renewed sense of purpose. It showed us that accident management companies in Northern Ireland can inspire generosity, build community spirit, and shine a spotlight on the incredible charities working tirelessly across the region.
A Heartfelt Thank You
We want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who supported this campaign. Every donation, every share, and every kind word played a role in helping us get closer to our target. The Childrenβs Heartbeat Trust will use these funds to continue their vital work, and we are humbled to have been part of their story. And also a big thank you to #teamNIAccidentManagement who all got involved.
To Sum Upβ¦
At NI Accident Management, we are proud to deliver social value beyond the road. This skydive is more than a personal challenge; it is a symbol of our belief that businesses should use their platforms to support those who need it most. By standing alongside the Childrenβs Heartbeat Trust, we re-affirm our commitment to both CSR and our community. Once again thank you very much to everyone who donated to this worthwhile cause.
